Disaster management and disaster response

In 2007, the UNCT was explicitly perceived by the government and donors as one UN System with regard to disaster management and disaster response. The UNCT works together on Inter-Agency Contingency Planning and has the capacity to respond immediately to any natural emergency. In January and December 2007, the UNCT led, together with the Government, the joint needs assessment mission after the earthquakes in the South. Based on the mission’s results, the UNCT further facilitated delivery of construction and other emergency materials for the victims of these earthquakes through a joint warehouse in Osh City.
