UNODC/ROCA-2007-012 - Project Assistant

Terms of Reference:

Under the general supervision of the UNODC Regional Representative, direct supervision of the Programme Management Officer, and close coordination with the managers of the regional and global projects the incumbent will:

  • Assist in the project monitoring and management functions as needed;

  • Provide support in implementation of the relevant projects’ activities;

  • Liaise with Government authorities as necessary;

  • Liaise with other UN agencies as and when required in administrative/financial/personnel matters;

  • Render logistical and organizational support to UNODC project staff, international consultants and technical experts;

  • Provide assistance in organizing and holding seminars, conferences, trainings, and meetings;

  • Provide assistance on financial and administrative matters to the regional and global projects; issue payments in the Field Office Management Ledger and work in ProFi systems;

  • Obtain necessary information and documents regarding financial records or projects expenditures; provide all requested financial and administrative documentation to ROCA upon request;

  • Review expenditure reports prepared by UNDP and make weekly/monthly/annual reconciliation of UNODC/UNDP accounts;

  • Respond to inquires regarding files, correspondences and references;

  • Provide support to office staff in general protocol matters related to visas and accreditation and other logistical matters;

  • Act as a translator/interpreter as necessary;

  • Compile situation reports as necessary;

  • Perform other duties as requested.

Background:

University degree. 5-7 years of progressively responsible clerical or administrative work, of which at least 2 years should be closely related to support of programme/project activities. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required, as is teamwork-oriented working style. Extensive working experience in the UN will be an asset. Computer literacy essential; excellent command of spoken and written English and Russian are required; knowledge of Kyrgyz an asset.
