VN-KIRA/2007/06 - Project Assistant

Terms of Reference:

Under the general supervision of the Project Officer, contribute to project design, implementation, and evaluation of programme/project activities, data analysis and progress reporting for Social Policy and Reform programme:

  • Performing a variety of information gathering, monitoring, technical and administrative services in support of project activities, preparing periodic and ad hoc report on project activities;

  • Coordinating with counterpart local authorities and NGOs on project details. Recommending courses of action to supervisor;

  • Undertaking ongoing visits to UNICEF project sites, assess local conditions and resources, and monitor UNICEF inputs including supply and non-supply assistance;

  • Preparing tables, graphs or other statistical data for technical review/monitoring purposes.

  • Undertaking arrangements for visits to project sites for government and other partners providing information and briefing on project activities and status;

  • Participating in training and orientation activities in the provinces in relation with the projects.

  • Management of information in the project and assisting with the budget management including reviewing accounts.

Background:
  • Have two to four years of progressively responsible clerical or administrative work, of which at least one year is in the area closely related to support of programme activities.

  • Be proficient in English and have a good knowledge of Russian and Kyrgyz;

  • Have good knowledge and skills in computer applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, others), proficiency in the use of computers;

  • Have completed higher education, supplemented by specialized training in the social sciences field, current knowledge of developments in the area;

  • Be able to express clearly and concisely ideas and concepts in written and oral forms;

  • Possess demonstrated ability to work in an international and multicultural environment;

  • Reveal sound judgment on professional matters;

  • Experience in planning and organisation of training in related field will be considered as an added advantage.
