On July 13 2014, in Besh-Kungey on the outskirts of Bishkek a Youth Forum was launched to discuss the Post 2015 development agenda of Kyrgyzstan. The Forum will continue until July 18.

According to Saadat Baygazieva, member of the UNiTE to End Violence Against Women and Girls movement, who participated in the Global Forum on the Post 2015 Agenda in New York City representing civil society in Kyrgyzstan, the Forum is a platform for young and active citizens of Kyrgyzstan where they can express their support for rights and opportunities of young people who while constituting a third of the population have little voice.

"Currently 1.8 billion among the world’s population of 7 billion are adolescents and young people. It does not make any sense to discuss the goals of future development unless we recognize the fact that young people are supposed to partake in addressing problems of their respective country. Despite significant advances in the area of youth involvement since adoption of the Millennium Declaration in 2000, and holding the first International Year of the Youth in 1985, there are still many obstacles that hinder the institutional  involvement and diverse representation of young people."

Participants of the event were selected by an initiative group of young activists via distribution of questionnaires and their carrying out of tasks. Over forty people took place in the selection process and twenty-five of them showed a strong commitment and expressed a desire to make attempt to change the situation of young people in the field, in their community. One of the challenges young people face is planning an advocacy campaign to promote the rights of young people.

This event is organized in partnership with the UN Theme Group on Youth.
