Press release: UNODC provides assistance to the Interim Government to help to restore the Rule of Law in the country

BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan (4 May 2010) – The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) donated modern law enforcement equipment (cameras, digital voice recorders, body armors) to the Ministry of Interior and the National Security Service of the Kyrgyz Republic.

This immediate UNODC assistance was provided upon the request of the Interim Government in Kyrgyzstan to the United Nations to help to restore the Rule of Law in the country. This assistance aims at strengthening capacities of the law

The EU prison reform project started in Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek (9 April 2010) -- The project, funded by the European Union and implemented by UNODC, aims at assisting with the implementation of the Rule of Law in Kyrgyzstan with focus on one of the most problematic justice institutions in the country, which is the prison service.

UNODC offers Kyrgyz Prosecutors Anti-Corruption Training in Issyk-kul and Osh

14 October 2009 – Corrupt offense takes place in secret between two people in a one-to- one relationship with closed doors. While there exists legislation for law enforcement to fight in cases of corruption crimes, putting it into practice is a huge hurdle.
