Established in 1994, UNICEF in Kyrgyzstan became the Government’s main partner to improve the overall situation of children and to ensure the fulfillment of their rights, as enshrined in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. The current 2012-2016 programme in Kyrgyzstan aims to create strong and sustainable policies; ensure that such systems are reaching the most excluded children; and empower youth and facilitate their participation in decision making and peace building processes.
"There is no trust more sacred than the one the world holds with children. There is no duty more important than ensuring that their rights are respected, that their welfare is protected, that their lives are free from fear and want and that they can grow up in peace."
