UNOCHA is the part of the United Nations Secretariat responsible for bringing together humanitarian actors to ensure a coherent response to emergencies. The UNOCHA Regional Office for the Caucasus and Central Asia (ROCCA) provides systematic flow of information and acts as a focal point for preparedness and response coordination in the region.  Through the National Disaster Response Advisor in Bishkek, UNOCHA supports the United Nations in Kyrgyzstan, the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic and the wider humanitarian community in coordinating joint work to better prepare and respond to disasters.

“OCHA holds a central place in the international humanitarian system, in strategic planning for disaster relief, and in coordinating the response to both long-term crises like drought, and rapid-onset disasters like earthquakes.”
